The Provence trip was incredibly well organised, Glen had a plan, a backup plan and probably plans C through Z… the group was very friendly and welcoming, Glen was always on hand with tips and recommendations for camera settings.

I got some great shots and was delighted with the whole trip.

“Shetland was my third tour with Glen (previous were the Outer Hebrides and Asturias). I come from Canada. As were the others, this tour was fabulous, and it speaks volumes to me that so many people return to participate on his tours. I think the 6 of us this past trip counted about 50+ trips among us, with Glen. And this, for me, is a bonus because the participants know what to expect, are welcoming, enthusiastic, positive, fun and willing to share their advice and suggestions.
Glen is a well respected, knowledgeable, kind, and all around humourous leader who guides you rather than “teaches” you, making it a very comfortable and rewarding experience. His organization skills from Plan A to Plan B or C are well planned; accommodations were top notch, and locations were so interesting and stunning. I have booked a 4th and 5th trip at present”
Shetland Islands Tour May 2026

|

Shetland is a wildly atmospheric group of islands and Glen’s well-organised lightstalker trip took us to beautiful and sometimes quirky locations to sample a range of photographic experiences (and a range of weather!). The accommodation was superb for a small group, allowing everyone to meet and enjoy company when back at base. Laughter and fun were a constant and I’m back home with a lot of photos to sort before I set off on the next trip!

“The locations are always perfectly selected and offer a lot to the photographers: beaches, cliffs, birds, small villages and beautiful nature. The accommodation was outstanding and offered space, comfort  and lot of charm. I like the small groups which make interaction easy among the participants. I also appreciate the flexibilty of the daily schedule adapting to weather or other conditions.

Shetland Island Tour May 2026

As always, Glen is exceptionally well prepared, and the ease with which he adapts the programme to the weather and changing circumstances speaks volumes about his experience and professionalism. He has a unique, non-judgmental way of encouraging you to bring out the best in yourself. Even in a location that was new to him, like Snowdonia and Anglesey, he navigated the area as if he had been coming there for years. It is always a genuine pleasure to travel with Glen. He is generous in sharing his knowledge, helping us create not only beautiful photographs but lasting memories. What I particularly appreciate is his sense of humour, perfectly balanced with seriousness and groundedness. He knows when to keep things light and when to create focus, which makes the whole experience feel both joyful and meaningful. Being outdoors, clearing your mind of everything except your next step, fully present in the moment, that is what travelling with Lightstalker Adventures feels like. Snowdonia & Anglesey Wales 2026

The trip to Snowdonia & Anglesey was a wonderful experience. I really appreciated how well organised and thought through the trip was – from excellent locations for photo shoots, to expert guidance and advice from a seasoned photographer, and a well-planned daily itinerary with flexibility to adjust according to changing weather conditions. The accommodation was very comfortable and in great locations – Snowdonia and Anglesey – Wales 2026

OI’ve done many trips with Glen and hope to do many more in the future. Great places, great photography, great camaraderie and above all a great guy ! Snowdonia Wales – 2026

Just travelling home from the Skye, Harris and Lewis trip and processing what an amazing week it has been. As ever, Glen’s attention to detail in planning the itinerary has been exceptional, yet with sufficient flexibility to work with unpredictable weather conditions – it might be Scotland in the autumn but he was well prepared, and made sure we were too! I learned so much on this trip with lots to practise in the next few weeks and months. Coming back a better photographer than I arrived !

Lofoten - Norway 2025

The trip to the Lofoten was another great example of how Glen is delivering outstanding experiences to his clients. Everything was perfectly organized, the wishes of participants always considered. We had a diverse group and everybody was happy with the week we spent together. I came away with tons of great photos of a great location.

Lofoten Norway 2025

Glen’s trips are meticulously planned yet he can turn a change in the weather into an opportunity rather than a setback. He knows each location and how they will work in different conditions. He manages to somehow charm everyone back into the minivan in good time to get to the next location without any offence. We packed a lot in, yet got rest periods when it mattered. He always has time to give advice and makes certain that nobody leaves without some good images. One of the best photographic tour operators in the business, and a thoroughly nice guy.

Isle of Mull Island Odyssey 2025

I’ve just returned from a five-day photography group trip to the Scottish Islands ( Mull, Iona Lunga and Staffa (and some highlands) under the expert eye of Glen Campbell. I’ve had a DSLR camera ( mostly on auto) for many years and too often relied on my iPhone for photography. Well, that’s changed! Glen is an excellent photography teacher who effortlessly assesses individual ability and provides support and advice appropriate to the individual’s needs, whereby everybody leaves more knowledgeable and more confident than they arrived, regardless of ability. Glen’s passion for photography is evident and infectious and I highly recommend and commend Glen for his professionalism, his enthusiasm and his content-rich material.

Isle of Mull Odyssey April 2025

This was my first ever photo tour. We were group of 6 and to me the small group size works very well, and staying in dedicated bedrooms is always a plus comparing to many other trips/organizer. The location was well scouted, and we had options when weather acted upon us. All in all, very positive experience, would highly recommend not only Madeira but Lightstalker Adventures as well.

Madeira Photo Adventure Feb 2025

If you’re unsure whether to visit these other worldly islands, just go for it. We were lucky with calm crossings and mostly mild weather, T shirts at times (not guaranteed!). The scenery beguiled, changing mood with the weather. As usual, a well-organised trip, good food and friendly company – in addition of course to the photography.

Barra and the Southern Hebrides September 2024

The Outer Hebrides was just a fabulous photo tour. I enjoyed everything about it. The accommodations were superb, the group size and composition were just fantastic. Glen was an excellent, humorous, and very kind and gentle leader, and expert at offering advice and assistance without making one feel inadequate. I never felt rushed. A fabulous experience.

Southern Outer Hebrides 2024

Top ratings  for this Really GREAT experience! First of all the Highlands are like a dream which is constantly resculptured and redesigned by natural influences like rain, wind, clouds and sun (little this time) therefore no colour. Although no shape looks the same for more than a few minutes. Second, I never had to think about logistics (totally new feeling being on a trip), was knowingly taken to places, hotels, restaurants and got the historical background and some insider anecdotes all thanks to Glen’s passion and respect for his own country. Third, sharing this experience with strangers, at the beginning and friends at the end, makes it all more intense. The soundtrack during the commutes, the disscussions, the stories told all while you look out and soak your eyes and senses in the ever changing landscape.

Glencoe Skye and Torridon August 2024

The trip was very well organized and included many impressive locations for photography. Even as the weather didn’t always play along, Glen managed to get the most out of the trip by keeping an eye on the forecast and adjusting the agenda accordingly. The Highlands are impressive and Glen’s leadership made it a trip worth remembering. Will surely come back for another trip.

Lofoten Norway 2025

After a week back home from a fantastic trip to Namibia with Glen, we’re still on a high, re-living all the fun, laughter and wonderful photo opportunities the trip provided, wondering how we can try and re-create that magic formula asap!

In this photo tour, Glen has crafted a magnificent blend of travel, culture, nature and incredible landscapes – a real journey of discovery and adventure, seasoned with Glen’s easy humour, culinary expertise (omelettes to die-for) and eclectic playlists (who can forget Pavarotti under a full moon by the campfire in the shadow of Spitzkoppe).

From the moment we arrived in Windhoek, it was clear that Glen had done his homework and the itinerary was meticulously researched and planned so that we were able to relax and enjoy the ride, maximising our time in this wonderfully diverse country.  The mix of guesthouse and camping (roof top tents) during the trip allowed us to have some creature comforts, but also be johnny-on-the-spot for the best photography experiences. We visited places that have been on our bucket-list for years and they didn’t disappoint – each location provided something different but equally exciting.  From Etosha and the wildlife in the north, to the Quiver Trees in the south, with the mountains,  sand dunes and rocky deserts in between.  The landscape changed around each corner, always keeping us guessing at what was coming next.

Glen briefed us about each place we visited and of course, provided expert photography advice where needed.  But this was more than a photography tour, it was an experience.  Glen made sure that this trip was unforgettable not just for the photography but also from a group travel perspective – from strangers, to friends-for-life in a matter of days.

Thinking back and trying to pick the best part of this tour is like trying to choose your favourite child; each place we stopped was unique and special for its own reasons – we loved them all and are hoping that our photos go some way to capturing our sense of awe and wonder.  But if our photos fail to hit the mark, we made fantastic memories and will always remember our amazing trip.

Namibia 2024

The moment I read the itinerary for the Lightstalker Adventures Namibia trip I knew I would go – it ticked so many bucket list items for me. In the lead up, Glen was in regular touch, making sure we were as prepared as possible: what to take, what not to take, what to expect, what not to expect. His planning was obviously meticulous, and I felt confident I knew what I had signed up for.

In the event, however, it would be true to say that nothing could have prepared me for the awesomeness of this trip. Glen’s thorough plan was executed to perfection. Every day was its own adventure. The photographic opportunities surpassed everything I had imagined. It seems I really didn’t know what I had signed up for after all. Everywhere I pointed my camera there were innumerable amazing shots to be had – out of this world. And in the dark sky areas, quite literally out of this world! Everything, as I had hoped, was ultimately about photographing Namibia, but it was also so much more. I am ruined for every other photography trip I take in the future!

All that said, it’s not for everyone. But if you are willing to pitch in with campfire cooking, or a spot of washing up; don’t mind breaking the odd fingernail, leaving the mascara at home, and finding sand in the strangest of places; are prepared to set up and camp out under starry skies in iconic locations, and spend the occasional night in a superb guesthouse while you recharge your camera’s batteries as well as your own; happy to have your camera to hand from sunrise to sunset to capture all the additional wonderful things you didn’t read about in the itinerary; are excited to become immersed in a new culture and meet wonderful Namibian people; are keen to be a part of a small group determined to make the most of every opportunity and contribute to making this the best photographic experience ever, then maybe this could well be the trip for you.

Namiba June 2024

This workshop was phenomenal and I got what I came for: inspiration, motivation and six days to focus (pun intended) on shooting extraordinarily beautiful landscapes while Glen took care of all the logistics. Glen grew up in the Highlands and knows the out-of-the way places we tourists would never have found on our own. He also knows the history and stories of the places we visited and loves to share both. He’s a great guide, travelling companion and always ready to share his extensive knowledge of photography – and his flask of coffee and snacks. I highly recommend this workshop.

Glencoe Skye and Torridon - August 2024

This trip to the United States’ Southwest was perfection itself, from its timing and length to the choice of national parks and monuments, shooting locations, walks and hikes, and accommodations.  Glen was incredible: a supremely knowledgeable and meticulous planner with a wonderful sense of humor and the ability to improvise when weather and energy levels warranted a change in plans. Time literally flew by, and I returned home with stunning images and an album full of fond memories.

The South West, USA 2023

I first attended the Scotland Grand Tour in August 2022. It was my first acqaintance with Glen and Scotland and I was hooked right from the start! So many amazing sceneries and gorgeous light! Glen knew all the right places and helped us get those iconic photos. He knew where it wouldn’t be crowded with the Selfie stick people so that was definitely a bonus. Scottish weather taught me how to shoot in the rain and provided dramatic skies . Wow!  Next was the Winter Tour in January 2023. This was another great experience with once again fantastic sights and even red squirrels taken from a woodland hide! We also had a hike into some more snowy parts of the Cairngorms which was absolutely wonderful to shoot and to walk around in. Third tour is coming up and a fourth one is in the making! Glen himself is easy-going and a very kind and patient person. He makes sure everyone is comfortable and safe. If you want, he helps you get that shot by giving advice with regards to composition, camera settings and otherwise, which really taught me a lot.  And, last but not least, he knows the best places where to eat! Be prepared, though: Once you have attended a tour, you want to come back again and again!

Grand Tour 2022 / Cairngorm 2023

Just finished the Glencoe Skye and Torridon photo tour with Glen. It was a really fantastic intro to Scotland. The group was fun and Glen made sure we got to see and experience plenty of photo opportunities while working around the Scottish weather. The physical requirements were minimal so getting around to get good shots was pretty easy.

| Glencoe Skye and Torridon August 2023

I was not as technically advanced as others on this tour (Scottish Highlands Photo Tour, August 2023) but I learned a few things and felt comfortable participating at my experience level. This tour surpassed my expectations. Being taken to Glen’s favorite locations and given advice on how to capture the best images was invaluable. Plus it was a lot of fun. I highly recommend!

As always, this Canary Island trip didn’t disappoint! Put aside your thoughts of timeshare apartments and beer swilling beach go-ers, this trip takes in all the beauty that this volcanic island has to offer…from the majestic Mount Tiede to stunning crashing seascapes – glorious food and perfect post winter weather. Glen has researched to his normal high standards to put together a trip full of variety – with just the right amount of time spent travelling vs time on location.

Islas Canarias - Volcanic Landscapes, Tenerife 2022

Just back off the Capture & Create course in the Lakes. Loved every minute of it. Glen’s laid-back style makes you feel like you are on holiday straight away. He finds the best locations and coaches you through taking your best shot of it. It doesn’t matter whether you are a novice or have a bag full of kit and filters – everyone ends up with great photos. It’s fun to pile in the van and find out where you end up. In the Lakes, it was hard not to take amazing pictures. I found the early starts to catch the sunrise hard but standing on the edge of a lake at dawn just looking at it was as amazing as capturing it.
The processing part of the course was great as you were taught how to get the best out of your pictures. I’d recommend having photoshop to get the best out of this. We got to have our best shot printed which was a really nice touch; to have something tangible in this digital age.
I’d highly recommend Glen’s courses. You meet a group of strangers on the first day and say goodbye to friends. I came home and booked another straight away!

Lake District Capture Create workshop 2022

I had the opportunity to spend 2 ½ days with Glen from Lightstalkers one-on-one in Glencoe,  Scotland. Although I considered myself a proficient photographer it was great to have Glen to advise, critique my approach,  and composition. I now feel with his coaching I have greatly improved my photography. Glen is such a great guy to be with and he knows the Glencoe area really well so we got to visit some great locations. I would heartly recommend Glen and Lightstalkers and am looking forward to the possibility of another trip in the future.

Highlander 2015 photo tour

I really enjoyed the week. You probably know the Highlands like the palm of your hand, but your hand-picked locations were phenomenal. And I admire your commitment to getting us to “just one more location” before the day’s over. It seems as if nothing fazes you, and you roll with whatever the days bring. Invaluable in a tour leader. You found us great dinner spots, some of the best meals on our trip. The fact that you continuously shot yourself testified to the passion you still have for great photographs. That in itself was inspiring. And the best compliment of all… I hope I have the chance to do another Lightstalkers tour!

What a wonderful week chasing the light on Skye, Harris and Lewis. We both had the experience of a lifetime. You do a great job of keeping things organised and on track so we can literally focus on photographing spectacular scenes … you have already researched so carefully. Your flexibility in terms of changing weather and light was invaluable. I admired your steady and upbeat way of working with all of us, ready to sep in if needed for advise but holding back the we wanted to work on our own. What a stunning place, full of grandeur and packed full of history that I did not realise existed. From the mountains and passes around Falzarego to the largest alpine pastures there are plenty of opportunities and it’s sometimes hard to know where to point your camera. Thankfully Glen is there to steer you in the right direction. With gentle guidance and excellent knowledge Glen helps you get the most out of any location but in a way that allows you to put you own interpretation on the images you take.
