West of Ireland trip summary
I’ve been visiting County Mayo and Galway every summer with my Irish partner Lynne for the last 6 years. I’m excited to finally share some of its beautiful secrets on this 7 day West of Ireland Photo Tour.
Starting and meeting near Dublin you’ll travel west to Yeats country to the compact County of Sligo. After the dramatic photo locations of Sligo we travel south and along part of the Wild Atlantic way, but detouring down back roads to quiet spots along the wild Atlantic shores of County Mayo’s north coastline.
Traveling south via Achill Island and into the colourful Mayo town of Westport we’ll spend a night here before an early session at dawn. We’ll capture beautiful Clew Bay and the Holy mountain of Croagh Patrick before cutting south through mountains and silvery lakes and down into County Galway and the Gaeltacht.
We’ll make our third and final base in the village of Cong, the heart of James Joyce country and capture the Connemara National park, photographing its rugged coastline and misty mountains at dusk and dawn.
This trip captures the best of Ireland’s Wild West Atlantic coastline, lakes, mountains and colourful villages and towns
From Galway we return east to Dublin where the trip will end.
