THE LAKE DISTRICT CAPTURE & CREATE – ENGLAND NOVEMBER 2026

Capture and Create – The Lake District, Autumn Gold

Lake District Trip summary

I had the opportunity to visit the beautiful Lake District for the first time with camera in hand in 2019 and I was instantly captivated. The timeless beauty of the region, along with its abundance of interesting subjects, made it a truly unique experience.

After conducting  several formats of workshop since then, I’m revisiting some favourite locations and some new ones when the  colours of Autumn are at their peak.

This Capture and Create workshop will allow time for both practical location photography and image editing sessions. Photoshop ( Lightroom ) sessions will allow participants to take their captured images to their finished vision. The format will also allow time to share and critique work with their fellow participants.  This is a complete workflow workshop.

The Lake District offers an array of picturesque sights that can be revisited multiple times, guaranteeing an endless source of inspiration, fresh air, and breathtaking imagery. So  I invite you to join me this autumn for an unforgettable journey through the mesmerising Lake District, a destination renowned for its natural beauty.

To ensure a more relaxed and less crowded experience, this trip will take place during the week, avoiding the busier weekends. Throughout the week, we will explore various locations around the northern, central, and time permitting quieter western lakes, including Ullswater, Derwent water, Buttermere, Coniston and Wastwater.

Moreover, we will have the chance to explore the charming villages of Coniston and Grasmere, which are brimming with interest, vibrant colors, and textures.

Join me on this Lake District Capture and Create workshop , where we can immerse ourselves in the beauty of nature and  unleash our creativity.

Accommodation

Your base for four nights and five days will be a comfortable self catering accommodation with single occupancy rooms and breakfast. It will be located close to some key locations and details  will be available soon.

Meals – for ultimate flexibility we may  prepare our own group meals (your preferences will be noted) and visit local restaurants or pubs for a meal.

What to Expect

You’ll be one of only 4 participants on this Lake District workshop spending our time in the central and quieter spots where possible.

Some low grade walking and a few short hill walks will be required but these are optional.

There are only 4 places available for each trip, making it a more  intimate learning experience.

The Learning

Your guide Glen has over 20 years experience as a photo educator. You’ll be immersed into the process of camera control, shot selection, composition, light quality, use of filters,  long exposures and final execution of image capture. It can be challenging photographing  in tough conditions but this can also yield some dramatic imagery when the light is at its most dynamic as the weather changes rapidly*. You can read some testimonials from previous participants here

You’ll learn how to adapt and capture transient moments of wonderful light as they happen.  An introduction to aerial photography can be part of the program too if you wish to learn or are interested.    Finally in the evening we can relax , gain some image editing pointers and tips  from Glen and review some of days images.
