Loch Lomond and the Trossachs was designated as Scotland’s first National Park. It lies in the western part of the Southern Highlands just an hour drive north of Scotland’s biggest city, Glasgow. It’s famously packed full of mountain peaks, often misty lochs and forest parks that illusive wildlife call home.
This is romantic Scotland where legends such as Rob Roy Macgregor wandered its loch-side shores, forested hills and open moors. There’s an abundance of history and myth to go with the landscapes that Sir Walter Scott and Ossian used as romantic backdrops for their world famous stories and poems.
As we head west towards the National Park we’ll pass by Stirling castle and The Wallace Monument for an introduction into Scotland’s history and our first photo opportunity.
Once into the glens and mountains you’ll explore some of more evocative loch-side locations then take to the hills for short walks to view some of its best known vistas of the surrounding mountains, lochs and glens.
