THE LAKE DISTRICT PHOTO WORKSHOP – ENGLAND APRIL 2021
March 18, 2019 5:01 pmWild Light Retreat – The Lake District, England Lake District Trip summary This spring the stunningly beautiful Lake District in the north of England will provide plenty inspiration, fresh air and stunning imagery. This Lake District photo retreat will combine evening and days session with a couple of early sessions (if your an early riser) around the Central and quieter Western Lakes with a session or two at Derwent water to the north also in the mix The featured practical sessions will be around Grassmere, Rydal, Waswater, the Langdales and Coniston water. During the day we’ll make time to edit and review our work, share ideas and get creative with Photoshop and Lightroom. We’ll also explore some of the classic village locations that are full of interest, colour and texture, such as Conistion, Ambleside and Grassmere. Accommodation Your base for four nights and five days will be comfortable self catering house located as conveniently as possible to our locations. Single occupancy rooms will be the norm unless stated with our own shared facilities. Meals – for ultimate flexibility while in the field we will prepare our own group meals and your preferences will be noted prior to the trip, we may also nip out to a local restaurant or pub for a meal. Not your usual photography workshop You’ll be one of only 4 participants on this Lake District photo retreat spending our time in the central and quieter spots where possible. Its a popular place but post Easter holidays and with some weekdays scheduled it should be a little quieter. Some low grade walking and a few short hill walks will be required but these are optional. Plus as mentioned there are only 4 places available for each trip, making it a more intimate learning experience. The Learning Your guide Glen has 16 years experience as a photo educator. You’ll be immersed into the process of camera control, shot selection, composition, light quality, use of filters, long exposures and final execution of image capture. It can be challenging photographing in tough conditions but this can also yield some dramatic imagery when the light is at its most dynamic as the weather changes rapidly*. You can read some testimonials from previous participants here You’ll learn how to adapt and capture transient moments of wonderful light as they happen. An introduction to aerial photography can be part of the program too if you wish to learn or are interested. Finally in the evening we will review some of days images with the use of a high resolution projector over a cold beer or glass of wine. The Accommodation Self-catering semi – rural cottages, retreats or small guest houses close by to our locations will ensure we can stay safe and make the most of our time whilst creating a sociable and fun environment. As with most of my trips everyone gets their own room. Fell free to check out some recent trip testimonials here Getting there Pick up options exact details will added shortly A.
