Capture and Create locations vary each year and this year the beautiful Lake District in Cumbria will be providing the inspiration, locations and content for our editing sessions.

Lightstalker’s Capture and Create sessions are split into three parts, image capture, image editing and producing the final print.  They are designed to explore the image editing process, share ideas and experiment with  Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom in an informal setting.

While you will learn some basic and advanced editing techniques in Photoshop, this workshop focuses on reviewing and improving your skills through review and critique and by example. So some knowledge of Photoshop or Lightroom is required.

After each practical session we’ll review and critique each other’s results  to gain and insight into each other’s approach.

With nearly 20 years of Photoshop editing experience you’ll be guided and assisted by Glen to navigate the digital darkroom and see  how he employs a refined and lighter touch to the editing process for his gallery prints.

At the end of the workshop you will have some new ideas, techniques and a better understanding of the image editing and  creative process.

Find out how employing a philosophy such as less is more and mastering clean, effective editing and colour correction can give your images a refined a professional edge that take them to the next level.

Finally you’ll have to opportunity to create an A3 print of one of your images to take home.

The Sessions

After practical sessions at some great locations you’ll download and edit a selection of your images. We’ll then share the results, with the use of a large screen and high resolution projector. I’ll  run through  some tutorials, demonstrating some procedures such as RAW workflow, focus stacking, black and white conversions, colour correcting and other topics.

I’ll also go through the importance of Colour Management and  monitor calibration with an  i1Display Pro, which aids accurate tone and  colour reproduction online and when printing.

Self-catering rural cottages, retreats  or small guest houses**  close by to our locations will ensure we make the most of our time and create a sociable and relaxed environment. As with most of my trips  everyone gets their own room.

We self-cater for evening meals or venture to local pubs  that dot the region when available. You can guarantee all will be well fed and watered with a glass of wine or beer. Having this flexibility means we can work to our own schedule and make the most of the conditions.
