EDINBURGH GLENCOE AND SKYE, ICONIC SCOTLAND – SOLO SESSIONS

Destination summary

Edinburgh Glencoe and Skye – Explore, capture and create at three of Scotland’s most iconic locations including the capital  Edinburgh, magnificent Glencoe and the dramatic Isle of Skye and all points in-between.

This Iconic Scotland Solo session is ideal for photographers that are short on time but still want have the opportunity to experience and photograph some of the most well known and dramatic locations in Scotland.

The Iconic Scotland sessions start with an afternoon/evening guided walking photo tour with Glen in the nations capital  Edinburgh.

You’ll then  travel across the Firth of Forth to photograph the World Heritage listed Forth Rail Bridge, then onto mythical Kelpies before a brief stop to capture the Wallace monument in Stirling.

We then continue  North into the Scottish Highlands with a night in Glencoe and then crossing the Skye bridge to explore the  Isle of Skye to photograph some of the finest landscapes in Europe.

All with expert guidance, support and info on hand to make this tour the complete experience.

At the end of your solo session you’ll have to option to remain on Skye or travel onwards to Inverness ( via Loch Ness ) where you’ll be dropped off late afternoon or early evening.

Iconic Scotland  group size

Solo session means the focus is on you, with time taken to make sure you get the shots you want. Or if you prefer you can bring a partner or a couple of friends or associates for an additional fee – max 3 participants

Itinerary

Sessions: 1 x 4.5 hr session in Edinburgh and 3 x 8 hour photo sessions* on location in Glencoe and the Isle of Skye

Starts in Edinburgh – ends in Inverness 

Day 1

Meet up in central Edinburgh 4.5 hrs prior to sunset* for a photo walking tour around the city ( *start times may vary depending on the time of year) you’ll overnight in Edinburgh.

Day 2

From central Edinburgh you’ll take the short train ride out to North Queensferry (20mins) where you’ll be met and guided to locations around the Forth Bridges. From here we travel to the Kelpies for  short session before and brief stopover in Stirling to capture the Wallace monument.

We then travel up into the Highlands for an afternoon session around Glencoe and Rannoch Moor, traveling through the Glen we’ll pick out the best locations and shoot until dusk to make the most of our time.

Day 3 

After breakfast we’ll continue north and if its in view, we’ll capture the UK’s highest mountain Ben Nevis from the shores of Loch Eil complete with ship wreck to add a little mystery and drama.

A little later we’ll arrive on the Isle of Skye and head west out through Strathaird and along the shores of Loch Torrin to capture a range of subjects including an old chapel, ruins, waterfalls, the red and black Cuillin hills  and one of the most iconic viewpoints in Scotland from Elgol at dusk. We  then make our way back to our accommodation in Broadford.

Day 4 

After and early breakfast we head up to Trotternish via Portree , one of Skye’s most location packed and accessible peninsulas to photograph the Old Man of Storr over Loch Leathan. We’ll  then take a short hike below the Quiraing for another incredible vista, one of the best in Scotland. We’ll explore Staffin beach and the views  back across to the Quiraing and then make our way back down to Sligachan where the Red and Black Cuillins need to photograph the river, old bridge and mountain peaks.

From Sligachan you can choose to remain on Skye and be dropped off at the capital Portree ( bus connections to all major points or there is a  rail link in the Kyle of Lochalsh) or onwards to the highland capital Inverness where you’ll be dropped early evening.

Experience level 

Each solo session can be tailored to each participant –

  • Beginners learning the ropes and finding their way around their camera
  • Photographers with experience and a good understanding  wishing to increase their skillset and capture great images
  • Advanced and seasoned photographers seeking out the optimum from their equipment and each location

Partners are also welcome to join as additional participants, just bring your walking boots and and outdoor clothing.

Accommodation

So you can suit your own budget and taste Solo Sessions don’t include participant accommodation in Edinburgh, Glencoe or Skye.

For Glencoe suitable, practical accommodation is available in Ballachuilsh, Glencoe, Kinlochleven, Kings house – there are also campsites and bunkhouses available.

For Skye, suitable, practical accommodation is available in the village of Broadford, Harrapool and Lower Breakish.
