ONE TO ONE PHOTO WORKSHOPS IN SCOTLAND

A half-day or single days practical tuition or multiple days guidance in the field with expert tuition and support. One to one photo workshops in Scotland offer the most basic introductions into photography or if you’re more advanced,  sessions that explore more contemporary techniques and challenging locations.

Each session includes a retrospective  critique and review of your own recent work. All one to one  workshops are tailored to your individual requirements and a brief chat at the start will give Glen an insight into where your at.

One to one options at a glance: 

Master Your Camera £175 – half day

Creative Landscape & Travel Photography Tuition from £295  – single day (7hrs )

Custom tour or Solo sessions  from  £795.00 for up to 2 days on location* 

Deposits start from £95.00 to secure bookings.

Please note sessions run from late August to late May only, this is  to avoid the busier tourist season and harsh light.

*Multiple day rates do not included accommodation for guests.

Master your Camera (MYC)

Half day one to one photo workshops are a great introduction for getting started or for those trying to refresh their skills. We cover the basics of digital camera controls, shooting in manual mode, histograms and composition while  having all your questions answered and  capturing some great images.

Half Day fee: £175.00 per person (4hrs duration) additional participants £35.00 p/p – max 4)

  • Basic equipment use and advice ( tripods, lenses, filters etc) what you need and what you don’t
  • Shooting in manual and mastering exposure
  • Optimising camera functions,
  • Using histograms
  • Simplifying composition

Location options 

The Kingdom of Fife  – St Andrews and Fife’s East Neuk coastline (pick up from St Andrews or Kirkcaldy station or convenient location if your driving)

Edinburgh – Capital city sessions and the Bridges – meet in Edinburgh

Creative Landscape and Travel photography day sessions

These sessions are more focused on the “creative side” of your photography.

Single day £295.00* /  (up to  7hrs duration*)

Additional participants £95.00 (max 3 participants)

Some topics covered include:

  • Equipment advice – having the right gear for the job
  • Simplifying creative composition
  • Focal length and aperture
  • Long exposure and bracketing / ND Filters
  • Neutral density and graduated filters – the do’s and don’ts
  • Light quality – Light is King – when its good and when its not..
  • Q&A sessions all your question’s answered.. write them down and bring them ..
  • Image workflow in Photoshop or Lightroom – some time to edit two of the days images..*

You’re also encouraged to bring selection of your previous images in digital format for review and assessment, a valueable learning experience in itself. *Time permitting.

Day Session Locations 

I’ve created several itineraries that offer some visual variety. From classic Scottish mountain scenery, natural landscapes, evocative woodlands, seascapes, historic villages, monuments, sculpture to modern city life in the ancient setting of Edinburgh’s old town.

The Kingdom’s  Coast – Fife

St Andrews & the fishing villages and seascapes of the East Neuk of Fife. – Pick up in St Andrews or Kirkcaldy train station, a short train ride from Edinburgh’s centre.

Central Highlands – The Heart of Scotland **

Perthshire and Stirlingshire are wonderful at anytime of year and you’ll venture into a land of woodlands, waterfalls, rivers and burn. From the Hermitage and Birks of Aberfeldy to remote Glen Lyon with hidden gorges and dramatic peaks. Meander  through the Mountains and Glens in the majestic central Highlands to create simple, evocative scenes – Pick up Broxden P&R in Perth 

Myths and Monuments – Fife, Stirlingshire and West Lothian

Delve into Scotland’s history in the coastal village of Culross (Outlander and Kidnapped), Stirling Castle, the Mythical Kelpies, Linlithgow Palace and the Forth Bridges – Pick up in Dunfermline or North Queensferry stations

Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park**

Featuring  Forests, mountains, villages,  misty Lochs and Glens. This is a location,  popularised and romanticised by Sir Walter Scott and William Wordsworth and roamed by Rob Roy this is a beautiful and accessible part of Scotland that’s close to both Edinburgh and Glasgow. 7 hour session  – Pick up North Queensferry station / Stirling / Dunfermline or meet in Aberfoyle . 

** location has a £45 supplement per day.

Multiple day custom sessions include Skye, Glencoe, Torridon and Inverpolly / Assynt.

Participant accommodation is additional and based on your preferences .

All one to one sessions are ran on demand and subject to availability. They include  tuition, guiding, transport to locations and refreshments.

Custom Tours  & Solo Sessions

I understand some people like to do their own thing and that’s great. So either on your own, with a group of friends or associates I can tailor a guided Custom Photo Tour in Scotland with tuition to suit your preferences.

Not sure where you want go ? Guided and fully escorted Solo sessions are also available  with set itineraries to the Isle of Skye, Glencoe and Loch Lomond and the Trossachs are available for up to 3 days click here to view options.

Custom Tour and Solo Sessions

From £995.00 3 days – single participant

Based on 8hr sessions,  longer sessions may be available and certain times of year and quoted for on request.

Includes most mainland locations and Skye.
Inner and Outer Hebridean islands will have additional costs.

With over 12 years of experience guiding photographers here in Scotland you’ll be in good hands.

Additional participants £95.00 each for 2 day itineraries and £125.00 for 3 day itineraries – (max 3 participants).

Develop your skills and create some memorable imagery. You’ll have all your questions answered and be given tips and ideas to increase your skill set. Drop me a line and I’d be happy to discuss your options.

Inverness based locations include Loch Ness, the Black Isle, Torridon, Inverpolly, The North West Cairngorm National Park and the Moray Coast. You’ll be picked up and dropped off at your hotel or accommodation each day.

Location based options*  – Glencoe and Rannoch Moor, the Isle of Skye, Inverpolly and Assynt – North west Sutherland The Isle of Mull. This option may include an overnight stay at a hotel or guest house convenient to our location which means we have more time for photography.

Extra Info

Custom and Solo Sessions are subject to availability  and some locations are better suited to certain times of the year. Additional  fees for overnight accommodation depending upon your requirements will apply.

Please bring a selection of previous images on USB stick or laptop for review and assessment if you can.

Custom and Solo Sessions do not include accommodation, transport to pick point or meals.
